THE STORY OF ROCK 'N' ROLL

Rock 'n' Roll is a music genre that emerged in the 1950s and early 1960s from a youth culture and protest movement in the USA. Influenced by Rhythm & Blues - a mixture of Blues and Jazz - Rock 'n' Roll is considered the pioneer of today's rock music.

The music, which was wild, rebellious and provocative by the standards of the time, triggered far-reaching social and religious discussions. Rock 'n' Roll includes music styles such as Surf Rock, Instrumental, Twist, Jive, Doo Wop and Rockabilly as well as many modern Rock styles.

Among the well-known musicians of the 1950s Rock 'n' Roll are Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Brenda Lee, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Janis Martin, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent, Wanda Jackson, Frankie Lymon and Elvis Presley.

In the 1970s, the term rock 'n' roll was redefined and used for musical styles such as Glam Rock, Hard Rock and Progressive Rock. The most famous bands of modern Rock 'n' Roll are AC/DC, Motörhead, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Kiss, Status Quo and many more.
